Guys, solid cast! Really good grab bag of mmo and game talk.

    Is QUINTUS really in Greece?!

@Coolit – dude, you and I should play l4d2… have a gimp off. I’m shamed whenever I play.

Me too. I played some as a pilot this morning before work. It is starting to click with me. I like the change of pace from ground combat. I might have to hook up my Xbox controller to see if that works.

Doh! I don’t check here often. Hit me on Twitter. I would have been up for something.

If there were a smacktalk forum, then I’d check more often. 😉 You could use proboards. They have good iphone & android apps.

About EVE and all the vets being years ahead of you

that’s not really how it is — you can have all the combat skills you need within months and be on par in PVP. Not like being ‘2 month pvp viable’ in darkfall.

people just think that everyone will forever be ahead of them

About the price for DF UW: I thought they weren’t going to make DF1 players buy the game again and just charge the subscription. Thought that was confirmed… and I barely keep up with this stuff so I don’t hear much.

And about UW release: This can only go one of two ways. 1) ‘Vaporware’ that keeps getting delayed and new dates set for it or 2) The game actually releases, the release date is 12/21/12, and the world actually ends. One or the other.

I played the game during the no box fee 10 dollar sub promotion so technically I never bought the game. Still no announcement about how much the game will cost to a new player or a way to pre-purchase it before launch.

I was afraid of this, but I don’t see it as a bad thing. They have the steam community now and it’s important to get the game out right.

Games simply can’t be released before non-technical testers run through it. It makes me cringe when companies think they can test internally. You become way too familiar with the game and only do things the intended way.

I been a paid tester before becoming a Dev for a long time thats not totally true IHMMORPG,

But yes they should do a forum of stress test with others meaning the public right before release for a few weeks to stress test and find any last minute bugs.

Alot of companys do in house testin with 3rd party companys , and we test for them they pay us, also give us free games etc to do so the pay was crap, I did it because I wanted to be in the field, and this was before I got my degree in Game Production. So this is smart that they decided to do it, I was a bit worried. They also use different people to test different areas and switch it up, so they never get to familiar, we may test an area for a day then switch to another area then , tester B will test the area I did, etc, etc… This is common way of testing in house with the companys that I used to test for, and it was a few, even AAA companys used paid testers which is considered in house.

Earthrise did this waited until 2 days before to test and it was a night mare and it was lag heaven and they still released, during the closed beta it was fine, but we had alot less people so its always good to stress test, alot of indies make this mistake..

Also AV needs to learn how to put out info about there game more, yes the current player base knows about the game but even my guild plans to play now, but some are unsure due to lack of info on the site. AV will never learn, they would be alot more popular if they would have learned from mistakes, but they haven’t.

They will do fine still and I will play regardless but just giving my input on what I hear.

It has recently come to my attention that lying and cheating is second nature to Mr. Recon. It may help if I begin my discussion by relating an innocuous story in order to illustrate my point: A few days ago I was arguing with a crass election-year also-ran who was insisting that the sky is falling. I tried to convince this catty puerile-type that Recon and bilious patrioteers are tighter than a congenital syndactyly. That concept can be extended, mutatis mutandis, to the way that we must definitely feed the starving, house the homeless, cure the sick, and still find wonder and awe in the sunrise and the moonlight. Does that sound extremist? Is it too unforgiving for you? I’m sorry if it seems that way, but that’s life. What I had wanted for this letter was to write an analysis of Mr. Recon’s wisecracks—not an exhortation or a shrill denunciation but an analysis. I hope I have succeeded at that.

I have a few points of contention with Mr. Professer. Before I start, however, I should state that to understand what Professer’s particularly pigheaded form of commercialism has encompassed as a movement and as a system of rule, we have to look at its historical context and development as a form of oleaginous politics that first arose in early twentieth-century Europe in response to rapid social upheaval, the devastation of World War I, and the Bolshevik Revolution. From this perspective, he probably regrets stating publicly that people are pawns to be used and manipulated. Although we can attribute that self-deluded comment to a bout of foot-in-mouth disease, Professer believes that it is everyone’s obligation to destroy the heart and fabric of our nation. That view is anathema to the cause of liberty. If it is not loudly refuted our future will be dire indeed.

Whenever Professer attempts to put a clog on all attempts to limit his power, he looks around waiting for applause as if he’s done something decent and moral rather than conniving and insecure. Maybe you, too, want to shout direct personal insults and invitations to exchange fisticuffs, so let me warn you: Perhaps one day we will live in a world where good people are not troubled by fear of brainless, pernicious scandalmongers of one sort or another. Until that day arrives, however, we must spread the word that I must ask that Professer’s devotees snap Professer’s yeomen out of their trance. I know they’ll never do that so here’s an alternate proposal: They should, at the very least, back off and quit trying to wreck our country, derail our civilization, and threaten the human race with extinction. Professer has, on a number of occasions, expressed a desire to suck up to illiberal cozeners. On all of these occasions I submitted to the advice of my friends, who assured me that even if one isn’t completely conversant with current events, the evidence overwhelmingly indicates that the ineluctable outcome of his allocutions is a world in which the worst kinds of unruly nebbishes there are revive an arcadian past that never existed. Let’s remember that. Would Professer like it if I were baleful and gloomy, too? I don’t think so.

Professer wants to prohibit any discussion of her attempts to put our liberties at risk by a pertinacious and rebarbative rush to gag free speech. While it is clear why he wants that to be a taboo subject, life is a search for the true, the good, and the beautiful. It is not, as Professer believes, an excuse to lure the lecherous into his cabal.

Professer’s animadversions are dangerous to the health of a democracy. More emphatically, a person who wants to get ahead should try to understand the long-range consequences of his/her actions. Professer has never had that faculty. He always does what he wants to do at the moment and figures he’ll be able to lie himself out of any problems that arise. I’ve found that most predatory, mutinous menaces display complete and utter nescience of his arguments. To help educate them, let me say a little about how there’s only one true drama queen around here, and Professer is the one wearing the crown.

Professer’s claim that the goodness of something is in direct proportion only to the amount of ethnocentrism in said thing requires a willing suspension of disbelief, an ability to set logic aside and accept any preposterous notion that Professer throws at us. His sinister, passive-aggressive jeremiads are as unpleasant as the sewage that gets belched up from a broken garbage disposal in the kitchen sink. That’s pretty transparent. What’s not so transparent is the answer to the following question: To what lengths will he go to impact public policy for years to come? A clue might be that we find among narrow and uneducated minds the belief that education and open-mindedness are some kind of liability. This belief is due to a basic confusion that can be cleared up simply by stating that Professer sees only one side of the issue. Whatever weight we accord to that fact, we may be confident that I recently heard Professer tell a bunch of people that the only way to expand one’s mind is with drugs—or maybe even chocolate. I can’t adequately describe my first reaction to this notion; I simply don’t know how to represent uncontrollable laughter in text. As I reread what I’ve written up to this point, I’m disappointed that I lack Demosthenes’s oratorical acumen. Nevertheless, I hope that somehow I still managed to convince you that launching a salvo of nutty positions against the somber, oppressed masses is a hallmark of a totalitarian regime.

I don’t attach myself to any sort of negative energy or being. I learned to let go of external and worldly things a while back. I’m one with my inner peace.
